THE BRAND... KARELIA

Europe's leading producer of wood floors

Karelia-Upofloor Oy, which produces the Karelia timber flooring brand, is one of Europe's leading flooring producers and an internationally recognised expert in its field. The main products are hardwood and resilient floorings.

Karelia-Upofloor Oy consists of the parent company Karelia Upofloor Oy, engaged in the production and marketing of Karelia and Upofloor hardwood floorings, as well as its solely owned subsidiaries: Upofloor Oy, engaged in the production and marketing of Upofloor resilient floorings, the Russian hardwood flooring factory LLC Karelia-Upofloor CIS and the Romanian hardwood flooring factory SC Karelia=Upofloor SRL.

The Karelia-Upofloor group has four production facilities in Finland, as well as factories in Russia and Romania. The main market areas are Finland and the Baltic Countries, Russia and CIS countries, Scandinavia, and International Projects.

Net sales in 2011 were EUR122 million, and the Karelia-Upofloor group employed 800 persons.

At the end of 2012, Karelia-Upofloor and the Swedish company AB Gustaf Kähr merged.

Kährs, established in 1857, is one of Europe's leading and oldest wood floor manufacturers, with a brand that is recognised globally. The main part of the production is multi layer parquet, one of the company's innovations that has become an industry standard. The main market is Europe, however the company is active in more than 50 markets around the world, and has its own sales companies in 10 countries. Kährs has two production facilities in Sweden. Net sales in 2011 were EUR160 million, and the group employs 850 persons.

This merge created Europe's leading producer of wood floors, with revenues of around EUR300 million. The new group ("The Kährs Group") is a market leader in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Russia, and will hold strong positions in other important markets such as England and Germany.
